Crusaders give Tetra Pak a ‘try’ 19/03/2010

Following Gareth Thomas’s signing earlier this year, The Crusaders Rugby League team have brokered another partnership, with local employer Tetra Pak. The international carton manufacturer, which has a factory in Wrexham, is sponsoring The Crusaders for the rest of the season, supplying enough cartons of water to keep the team match fit.

Anders Olsson, Marketing Director, Tetra Pak UK said "We are always looking for ways to support the local community, so we’re delighted to support The Crusaders this season. Cartons of water are ideal for sports – they have easy-open caps, and their light-weight design means that they are easy to carry during travel and training."

Tetra Pak’s sponsorship is also helping The Crusaders become more ‘green’. Cartons have a low carbon profile and are made from a renewable resource – wood. They are also widely recyclable across the UK. 86% of Local Authorities now collect cartons for recycling, and nearly a quarter (24%) include them as part of their kerbside collections.

Mike Turner, Commercial Director, Celtic Crusaders, added "It’s a very exciting time for us at the moment; as Gareth Thomas gets ready for his first game this Friday, we’re also making real progress to become more green thanks to Tetra Pak’s sponsorship."

On The Crusader’s home turf, Wrexham, bring banks are available at five sites for residents to recycle their used cartons. To find your local carton recycling facilities, visit http://www.tetrapakrecycling.co.uk/locator.asp.

Gareth Thomas is expected to play his first game for the Crusaders at the Racecourse Ground on Friday March 19th against the Catalans Dragons.
